I love this game.
All you have to do is keep adding to it and I'll buy your expansion packs.
Make it richer and deeper and more engaging and I'll keep throwing money at you.

With that said what follows is my perspective on the two biggest irritants in the game. I say this to point out what needs to be sanded down so the game can continue to be refined into what is already proving to be a masterpiece:
1. Construction: your snap mechanics are pretty good. There are simply one or two missing functions that would allow me to things like build a bridge ahead of me, for instance. Slightly more options would make a world of difference.
2. Climbing, specifically out of water. Watching my Viking struggle to get onto a dock or even a set of stairs while in the water can instantly raise my blood pressure to the point where steam is coming out of my ears. Maybe it's the nature of the game where I'm always working on getting the next thing done but too many stupid little aggravations like that can really ruin the experience, yeah? So maybe iron or sand (I'm a carpenter) those out when you find them.

Other'n that, folks: grand job. Love the game.
Carry on.

One more item to my list: better aiming, specifically aiming down.
If an enemy is on a lower terrain than my Viking I often can't hit them.
Aiming with bow and arrows is good but often odd. I don't know how else to say it. I love the bullet drop but, despite decades of playing video games, I'm still having a lot of trouble predicting what the arrow will do. Might just be a 'git gud' situation but... figured I'd mention it.
Aiming down with a melee weapon, though. Yeah that needs work. I've literally had to terraform around stumps to clear them.
Meh. Could be better.
Anyhoo... keep up the good work.
Cheers and carry on.

A quick addendum;
The archery in this game is maddening because of the way enemies move. They magically reposition when running away with no telegraphing or predictable pattern to "git gud" in response to. Ideally the enemies would give some indication via telegraphing their intentions through identifiable behaviors. I do understand that you're working with limited resources. Even so when my target looks like a cardboard cutout of a deer facing left and I release the arrow expecting it to take a step in the direction it's facing and, suddenly, the deer looks like a cardboard cutout of a deer facing right and is going in the opposite direction... yeah.
That's a clench moment. My instinctive response to this comes from the streets of New York City and is considered offensive in most social circles. But it feels like I'm being trolled, you know? There is no way to account for that and, thus, no obvious way to actually get better at hitting the enemy other than... idk.. waiting for the turn?
idk
It just feels broken and frustrating and I really hope you guys decide that, at some point, it's worth addressing.
Other'n that: Cheers and carry on.
Still loving the game, btw.
Yesterday I came upon a little hidey hole that another player on my server built into the mountains and spent the night listening to wind and wolves both howl in the night above while I sat warm and safe by a crackling fire.
It was a cool moment.
...
If I may be so bold: just keep refining what you've got. The spirit of the game is good. Listening to the wind in this game and watching the weather turn is just epic. Just keep making it more of the vision that got you started and you'll have a masterpiece. Add to it, refine it, make it better and better and, just speaking for myself, I'll keep paying for more. I'd be happy to.
This game is a treat. :)
So yeah: rock on, folks.

Oh, PS - when crafting and adding to a stack it'd be nice if I could do that even when I don't have a free slot in my inventory.
Cheers

Pretty sure what is happening here is the game checks to see if there is a target within a certain angle and distance of the player, but it doesn't take into account the angle of the camera, so looking up and down at an enemy or stump has no effect on your swing direction. This seems like a bug to me too.

The animation shows where it hits.
If I follow the streak of the weapon through the air and play with the angle I can actually hit multiple targets at the same time.
The issue is that it's not exactly intuitive.
I think: crosshair over target = hit.
Except it doesn't.
Meh. Not the biggest issue. Just a little gripe. More than the melee though is the archery.
It just... err... needs work. The trajectory mechanics combined with the... idk what to call it... the way the enemies are animated I guess... requires a lot of patience.
And I'd really like it if I wasn't getting stuck on things as much.
Adding a beam to the side of a floor section creates a tiny rise... that I have to jump over.
After a while that requires some patience too.
In any case: cheers and carry on.

A good example of this is when you fight an enemy on a hill. Even if you look up or down at them, your weapon will miss them.

Hey guys,
so, in the above pic I a attempting to place that torch dead center on the post below it. To state the obvious: the entirely unnecessary flashing yellow square is making that nigh-impossible.
:(
Once again: thanks for a great game. To that end: Salutations from Valheim:

Also, can we have an exception list for things like Bukeberries and Dandelions?
Those two plus thistle are enough to make me certifiably crazy.
They are simply always items that I have to do something about.
Which makes them maddening, yes?
Yes.
Cheers and carry on.
