As it is now, it's easier to store wood or coal into chests instead of piling because we don't have much control of how many units we can get from the piles.
Most of the time I won't have 50 wood/coal to build a pile and store the excess, So would be nice we are able to build piles from any amount from 1 to 50 units,
and have the options to pick 1 unit from or put in 1 unit in the existent piles (and naturally pick all disassembling it), so we can leave piles close to fires and furnaces, that we can pick from, and NOT ending up getting stuck with coal in inventory because I cannot rebuild the piles after using a couple of coal on the furnace,
This way piles can be more functional, and not just aesthetic,
