Day 1 and already a noob question

I love that you have to figure things out in this game, however I just don't seem to be getting any antlers to create a pick axe with. Killed plenty of deer, and keep getting trophies... no antlers. Any thoughts?

You didn’t hunt eikthyr yet, did you?
Once you kill it, it gives you a few hard antlers
