Imagine being able to attach the top of a chain to your ceiling, and then attach items to the bottom of that chain. It could allow some interesting construction options.

This comes to mind because I'd love to suspend the hanging brazier from a tall ceiling, and let it hang lower down. As is, I end up building a structure to let it hang down to a reasonable level, but just concatenating a few chains would would be much more aesthetically pleasing.

This post made me start to think of other applications for chains, such as draw bridges, winches, flexible weapons (like flails, a new weapon skill for mostly blunt weapon damage that overcomes some block resistance against opponents), chainmail armor, etc. but being able to use them in 1-meter lengths to hang and support other construction is an interesting idea from an aesthetic look (especially if you can chain them together to adjust hanging length as needed)

The downside to using them for free-hanging objects is that if the item gets bumped or disrupted, it should move, adding in the animation and collisions to support that will add additional complexity to a game that is already extremely asset-intensive and heavily GPU-intensive and could negatively impact performance.
