Mini games would be a great addition to Valheim. I believe the perfect place to start would be to incorporate the Viking game of Hnefatafl. This is a game similar to chess where a small group of soldiers defend their castle from an invading horde of enemies.
The board itself could be a beautiful item, with its own table and chairs to go with it. The spirit of an old Viking with a horned helmet and a stein of mead sits in one of the seats, ready to resume your game where you left off last.
If you would like to challenge another player instead of this NPC, you simply ask them for their seat for a while. They respond, “Yes, I suppose a walk could be good for my old bones.”
